Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović has met with the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Serbia Carla Robin Hershey. They have discussed the activities of Serbia during the pre-accession negotiations on EU membership, implementation of reforms and UN agencies assistance modalities to our country - especially in the areas of importance for the EU accession process.

Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović stated that reforms were the most important segment of the European integration of Serbia.

“What makes the process of the EU accession are the reforms, these are so-called Copenhagen criteria - the rule of law, fight against corruption, judicial reform, economic criteria and good governance”, she prompted.

A long-standing path towards membership in the European Union is ahead of us, upon which we will often rely on the EU's assistance and support for external and security challenges, just as we have a very significant support from Russia with regard to certain issues. We are Serbs, we are not "little Russians", nor are we a ‘Trojan horse’ for Russian interests in the EU. However, we do respect the support and attitude towards our interests that the Russian Federation has shown and we do not hide it, which is why we have not imposed sanctions on them.

If the referendum were to be held tomorrow with question "Do you support Serbian membership in the EU?", 49% of the Serbian citizens would be in favor, 27% would be against, 13% would not vote, and 11% would not know what to answer. These are the results of the last public opinion poll called "European Orientation of Serbian Citizens" which was conducted by Ministry of European Integration in June 2017. The poll was carried out in compliance with the Eurobarometer standard, and 1,064 respondents older than 18 took part in it.

Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic and Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Zoran Djordjevic met with the delegation of FRONTEX, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency. They discussed the future cooperation which, primarily, includes technical support, as well as risk analysis, joint operations and rapid response to situations where the EU countries and those in the accession process are threatened by migrant inflows from the Middle East and other areas.
