The Serbian Government Council for European Integration

The Serbian Government Council for European Integrations was established on 4 September 2002 as a Government advisory body. The Government decision of 7 June 2007 sets out the new responsibilities of the Council:
• Monitoring the realization of Serbia’s European Union association strategy;
• Proposing guidelines for improving Serbia’s EU accession process;
• Proposing measures for achieving general national consensus on Serbia’s EU accession process;
• Provide other advisory services aimed at increasing the efficiency of Government and other state institutions in Serbia’s EU accession process.
The Council operation is managed by the Prime Minister, acting in the capacity of Council President. Deputy President of the Council is Deputy Prime Minister, acting as Council President if the President is prevented from managing the Council operation.
Council members are all ministers, president of the European Integration Committee of the National Assembly, Advisors to the President of the Republic, representative of the Executive Council of AP Vojvodina, national coordinator of the Regional Cooperation Council, representatives of religious organisations, representatives of national minority councils, representative of Serbian Chamber of Commerce, representative of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, representatives of Universities and scientific institutes established by the Republic, representatives of non-government organizations dealing with the European integration issues, representatives of syndicates and employers’ associations established for the territory of the Republic of Serbia and the Director of the European Integration Office.
Council members are appointed according to the Government decision.
Council representatives may, depending on the agenda, invite the representatives of other organizations and institutions to attend the meeting.
The Council sits when necessary, and at least twice a year – in March and in September.
European Integration Office provides technical support and prepares the meetings of the Council. |
